3mm x 6mm (1/8" x 15/64") Diametric Neodymium Cylinder – N52 Grade

Key Features:

  • Dimensions: 3mm diameter × 6mm thickness (Approx. 1/8" × 15/64")
  • Pull Force: Approx. 1.76 lb
  • Magnet Grade: N52
  • Magnetization: Diametrically Magnetized (Poles on the curved sides)
  • Coating: Nickel-Copper-Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) triple-layer plating for a durable, metallic finish
  • Shape: Micro Cylinder / Rod

Material Description:

Our 3x6mm Diametric N52 magnets are specifically designed for rotary applications. Because the magnetic field radiates from the sides of the rod, these magnets are the industry standard for magnetic encoders and Hall-effect sensors. They allow for accurate angular position tracking as the rod rotates on its axis.

Important Handling Note: Diametric magnets behave differently. They will snap together side-by-side rather than end-to-end. Neodymium is brittle; at 6mm long, avoid side-impact or dropping them on hard surfaces to prevent cracking.

Warnings and Safety Information:

  • Choking Hazard: Tiny rod size is extremely dangerous if swallowed. Keep strictly away from children and pets.
  • Handling: Expect an unusual "rolling" attraction. Use non-magnetic tweezers for precise placement in small assemblies.
  • Medical Safety: Keep away from pacemakers and sensitive medical electronics.
  • Electronics: Safe for sensors, but keep away from magnetic storage media and mechanical watches.

Applications:

  • Rotary encoders and small motor position sensors
  • Magnetic stirrers for small-scale laboratory mixing
  • Precision mechanical "rollers" in micro-robotics
  • Unique magnetic triggers for creative DIY electronics
  • Scientific demonstrations of transverse magnetic fields
